In October, I poked some fun at the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board for writing that the victory (with 38% of the vote) of the Canadian Conservative Party was some kind of a blueprint for the Republicans in the U.S. to win.

Now some leading Republicans are saying similar things about the win last weekend of Congressman-Elect Anh "Joseph" Cao in New Orleans –
Republicans view Cao's win as a road map back to their roots. "The Cao victory is a symbol of what can be achieved when we think big, present a positive alternative, and work aggressively to earn the trust of the American people," Boehner wrote in his memo. "The Cao victory is a symbol of our future."
I suggest that the Cao win means as much to the future of the Republicans as the Canadian Conservatives.
Cao beat indicted Democrats who won his last 2 multi-candidate Primaries with less than 40% of the vote in an election in December with depressed the turnout from November by over 60%.
How often in the future will Republicans have that opportunity?
And by the way, the Canadian Conservative government is facing a no-confidence vote in Parliament and may be voted out of office in a month or two.
