I expect to win my race for the 40th council district. I expect to get the votes of more than half of those who show up to vote in this race. I will say no more on this right now. I also expect that the turnout in my race will be higher than usual. I will say more on that at another time. Expect the highest raw number for a Dem primary winner in this district since the lines were cut in 1991.
Right here and now, let me formally endorse Billy Thompson for mayor. After the primary we democrats have to throw down big time to make Billy the next mayor of this city. Believe me when I say that Billy Thompson has a tremendous chance of being our next mayor. No matter how much money Mike Bloomberg spends it won’t help him escape the wrath of voters from his overturning of the term limits referendum. The vulgarity of his money splurge for more power will be his downfall this time around. New Yorkers will show Mike B that they won’t be bought. Watch!
Anyway, Bill Thompson will win the Dem primary for mayor tomorrow. I have already endorsed Norman Siegel for Public Advocate and I stand by that with no strings attached. I am staying out of the Comptroller’s race. I will decide on who I vote for in the voting booth.
I expect Charles Baron to be re-elected despite the fact that I have endorsed Carlos Bristol in this race. Carlos deserves to be the next council member from this district. Like Winchester Keys (another candidate here), Carlos has paid big dues in this East New York community. Both Keys and Bristol have been active in this community for decades. Barron’s stature has taken a beating lately but in a crowded field he should pull it off.
I also expect Tish James to be re-elected; so too Al Vann (despite my endorsement of Saquan Jones). I feel that Tracey Boyland will win her race, mainly because Tulani Kinnard‘s campaign has made many strategic blunders. Tactically speaking (and I was an early endorser of Mrs. Kinnard) I don’t think they ran the campaign correctly. But then who am I to speak? I ran a “B” campaign (at best). I made many many mistakes for a veteran. However I will give myself an “A-” on my mailing program, which I think will get me the victory.
I also endorse Marquez Claxton and Ydannis Rodriguez; these are races outside of Brooklyn. I believe the race in the 45th is up for grabs amongst four of the seven candidates. These are namely: Sam Taitt, Jumannee Williams, Doctors Dexter McKenzie and Kendall Stewart (the incumbent). The other candidates here have little or no chance of winning as far as I can analyze. This may be the most interesting council race in the city. I hope the best candidate wins. I endorse anyone running against any council member who voted to overturn the term limits referendum.
Stay tuned-in folks.
