Celeste Katz looks at the Mayoral field and asks "Then the question becomes how does each candidate make a case to bear the party standard…where does Thompson fit in?"
I dunno Celeste, but forgetting for a moment that Bill's the guy who nearly beat a man who spent more to be re-elected than we did to find and kill Bin Laden, how bout that's he's the only black guy in the field? The headline as it appeared in my local edition of the Courier was "Bay Ridge Slams Grimm over Medicare“; the link below of the same article is a variation on that theme.
I yield to no one in my dislike for this sanctimonious little Rudy in embryo. Grimm's constituents should be screaming in outrage.
But the Courier got shucked.
The slammer and screamer in chief in this article is not from Bay Ridge or anywhere near it; it is Cobble Hill's Dorothy Siegel, a Working Families Party activist and resident of Yvette Clarke's district (her house is the one with the "Don't blame me, I voted for Kucinich" poster in the window) Bay Ridge to Grimm: Hands off our Medicare! www.brooklynpaper.com

Strange Bedfellows Time: Last year, the Charter School Mafia ran young & ambitious primary opponents (Mark Pollard, Basil Smikle and Lyn Nunes) against three black State Senators (Velmanette Montgomery, Bill Perkins and Shirley Huntley), and got their asses kicked.
Now Huntley is under her investigation, and who does she choose for her lawyer?

Bullshit watch:
Der Tzetung: "The current Secretary of State, the Honorable Hillary R. Clinton, was a Senator representing New York State with great distinction 8 years. She won overwhelming majorities in the Orthodox Jewish communities in her initial campaign in ‘00 and when she was re-elected in ‘06, because the religious community appreciated her unique capabilities and compassion to all communities.”
But as I noted in 2006, Hilary’s landslide re-election was not a landslide everywhere:
"Let us reflect, during this season of our Lord, upon the awesome and mighty power of Assemblyman Dov Hikind, whose strenuous efforts contributed mightily to Hillary Clinton’s landslide victory. Especially notable was Hillary’s stunning victory over John Spencer in Hikind’s own 48th AD, where Clinton got 5878 votes out of the 11,755 cast, for a daunting 50.00% of the total vote and an insurmountable margin over John Spencer of 167 votes."
“I note that the mostly Orthodox Long Island Village of Lawrence (which should really change its name to "Lazer") gave 49% of its votes to John Spencer.” Where's Hillary Clinton? Not In Brooklyn Hasidic Newspaper's Doctored Photograph: UPDATED www.nydailynews.com

I know Rock dislikes it when I take issue with his columns, but when he invokes my name, as he does in this column backing District Leader Lori Knipel for Brooklyn Borough President, he 's calling me out to take a personal point of privilege.
Point # 1: My supposed “endorsement’ for Lori is best explained by quoting the thread on Rock's blog verbatim:
ProspectPark: What are Lori Knipel's chances of winning the Borough President's race? Who would be her opposition, if any? I think Lori would make a fine Borough President.
GATE: If any?
Lord, why would there be any opposition at all? Lori should win by acclamation. They shouldn't even hold an election, the choice is just so damned obvious.
Point #2: As to Lori's "history making" support of Clarence Norman to be Democratic County Leader, Clarence made his history in 1990. Lori Knipel did not become a District Leader until 1992.
I won’t even get into the preposterousness of the libelous felony level charges being proffered here without the slightest scintilla of evidence, or the fact that somehow Lori is owned something special, as if she was the only white leader to back Clarence Norman’s non-historic re-election (something which, in retrospect, one might not want to brag about).
Point #3: Lori happens to be a friend of mine, but when Rock says Jumanne Williams, who’s actually won and held an elected public office “hasn’t paid enough dues,” but then boosts the Borough-wide candidacy of a women whose run one for a local public position resulted in a 4th place finish behind Omar Boucher, we are talking about a race in the Borough of Oz.
