Inez Barron's husband sez: “We can’t have people getting elected just because of their last name.

Chuckles also opines: “And Vito, please. I would never support anyone Vito has control over.”

The socially liberal Dilans handpick an-anti Same Sex Marriage right to lifer for the Assembly.

Is this an effort to get Chuck Barron to switch sides?

I understand that it is not impossible for a socially conservative candidate to win a primary in turf like the 54th AD.

The entire advantage of letting the bosses pick the candidate is supposed to be that they don’t let stuff like that happen. The Brooklyn Politics Blog www.thebrooklynpolitics.com

I don't disagree that the special election process sucks–no mention of a runoff provision in the proposal Restler supports, so I'll have to withhold judgment as to whether it'd be a gift to the GOP.

But Jesus H. Gonzalez, man, could you not even spare one sentence to mention that Weprin's a decent liberal who is highly preferable to the Republican? Self indulgent masturbatory “Progressive Nihilism” at its worst. Anthony Weiner screwed Brooklyn — again www.brooklynpaper.com

CHN say Bob Turner is a Winner (of the week)

“Bob Turner — His week started with the Queens and Brooklyn Republican parties burying the hatchet and unifying behind him as the Republican nominee in the special election to replace Anthony Weiner. Then Ed Koch said that he wouldn’t support the Democrat in the race, David Weprin, because the former mayor wants the race to be a referendum on President Barack Obama’s Israel policies. That was topped off by Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who holds some sway in the district’s Orthodox community, saying he had a problem with Weprin’s vote in favor of gay marriage. Turner’s still a long shot, but any traction the Irish Republican can gain in the district’s sizable Jewish community against the Orthodox Weprin is an unexpected boost.”

"Progressives" pronounce themselves "unexcited" about this race. I find it more interesting than I prefer. The only comfort is that CHN has been wrong about everything else recently. Winners & Losers, July 15th edition nycapitolnews.com

I'm gonna be fair on this one. Everyone has been a hypocrite. Debt ceiling votes have always been about hypocrisy. Senator Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling.

The difference is that, in the past, the opposition did nothing more than cast some cheap "no" votes and do some kabuki.

And if the opposition controlled a House, they bit the bullet and supplied enough "yes" votes to pass it.

The problem with today's GOP is they think they are living in a kabuki world. During Bush Presidency, Current GOP Leaders Voted 19 Times To Increase Debt Limit By $4 Trillion thinkprogress.org
