Looking for a new broom to facilitate the illusion of cleanliness, Joe Crowley offers us Malcolm Smith for Congress.
Is this the Season Premiere of “Racetrack Empire?”
Are they trying to beat Al Waldon's record for short time service?
In fairness to Joe Crowley, it would be really difficult to find an elected official from southern Queens who's not under investigation (Yes, I know about Leroy Comrie, but NYS is losing two seats in Congress and it would take three to hold Leroys). Pushing Meeks out door www.nypost.com
How can Paul Newell oust a "Silver backed [was his opponents a gorilla?] District Leader," if Newell’s the incumbent?
And where did the Post find someone clueless enough to says that the loss by Silver's candidates in an area dominated by Yuppies and hipsters was a “shock.” Harlem slap to Dem bigs www.nypost.com
Vinnie Gentile for Congress?
Back when he was a State Senator representing the North Shore of the Rock, as well as Southwest Brooklyn, the kids at Park Hill Hosues used to call him "My Senator Vinnie."
So, yeah, he's the one Brooklynite with a base on the Island.
But, it's a base in the one area of the Island where they already have little problem voting for Brooklyn Democrats. How much this helps him in Tottenville (or Borough Park), I dunno. Heard Around Town, Oct. 4, 2011 www.cityhallnews.com
Peyser: "Community Board 1 is the same entity that voted last year to welcome the mosque and Islamic center near Ground Zero to the community. Apparently, members don’t see the irony of a government body kissing up to one religion while slamming the door on another."
And though I don't know who a sukkah in a park is supposed to harm, I will note that Peyser apparently is too stupid comprehend the difference between allowing a religious group the use of public land, as opposed to not preventing them from doing what they want on their own property. Rock’s column about Hakeem Jeffries versus Ed Towns is his second this year predicting a primary against an incumbent Brooklyn member of Congress.
The first was about Darleen Mealy parlaying Brownsville strength and southern Brooklyn Jews pissed about Yvette Clarke’s tepid support of Israel into a race.
But, what if in reapportionment , Towns ended up with Browsville and Yvette's Jews, and Yvette ended up with Towns' Yu
I’m not saying such a reapportionment will happen; as Colin reminded me, Hakeem is a member in good standing of Shelley’s conference, so Rock could be right, even though Hakeem is also launching trial balloons aiming as high as the Mayor’s office (I got a free sushi lunch just off the possibility I’d float one, which I did.
But I am saying such a reapportionment could happen.
The Governor, who has a veto over the new lines, apparently thinks enough of the Towns clan to make the Congressman’s son Commissioner of a major State agency.
Beyond that, I will note that Rock’s inclusion of two long paragraphs about how rumors about Walter Mosley's sexuality shouldn't be an issue sort of defeats their purported purpose.
Plus, I'm puzzled why Rock hopes there's no Mosley-Alabi primary. I though Rock thought contested primaries were a good thing.

OK, stop complaining,
Just to be clear, Toby Stavisky, Joan Millman, Michele Schimmel, Audrey Pheffer, Adele Cohen, Joni Yoswein and Annette Robinson (all of whom won their seats in special elections) did not attend Liz Kruger's press conference about how special elections discriminate against women.
That was snark. The Gateway (Black Coffee Blues Edition) | Room Eight www.r8ny.com
