I guess some are led from behind and some are dead from behind.

It would be nice, however, if Maddow weren’t half as smug in rubbing in the face of Republicans the success of a military action she herself opposed.

What I learned from reading "The Guardian":

The Shalit prisoner exchange is just one more example of the perfidy of the evil Christkillers who call themselves "Chosen."

If the Israelis are willing to release 1000 murderers, many of whom will surely strike again, for one prisoner, how about we offer them Pollard in exchange for a settlement freeze?

Say what you want about Vito (and I will), but the publicity for his march in support of OWS comes with an actual list of things to support.

Despite the classic Kinsley type gaffe made here by a Towns staffer (a Kinsley type gaffe being a case where one tells the truth as one sees it), I would not be betting the mortgage money that Hakeem Jeffries will be making abortion an issue in the Congressional race; in fact, I'd bet the other way.

I've learned not to bet money on what Barron might do; the late Flo Kennedy notwithstanding, the “abortion is genocide” rap still has some currency in certain black nationalist circles. Towns Aide On Bed-Stuy Abortion Rate: ‘It Needs To Be High’ | PolitickerNY www.politickerny.com

Speaking of abotion (but true of many other issues as well), the biggest difference between Cain and Romney is that Romney changes his positions in different years, knows it and doesn't believe a word, while Cain changes his positions in the same sentence, doesn't understand he did so, and is utterly sincere. Stranger than Fiction Department: Sitting home today with the flu, I discovered that a joke I'd thought I made up ("The year was 2000; I was on line at JFK, about to check my baggage for a flight to Florida, answering questions from a young woman with a clipboard. “Is this trip for business or for pleasure?”, she asked. I felt like Jack Benny asked to choose between his money or his life. A minute went by and then another. She tapped her pencil as folks behind me began to grumble. “Neither”, I finally responded, “I’m going to visit my parents.”) was used in somewhat different form in this 1966 Alan King monologue from the Ed Sullivan Show (taped at the time King was appearing on Broadway with my cousin Neva "Chava" Small in Arthur "Son Of Groucho" Marx's “The Impossible Years."

King, even used a tagline in his version of the joke I usually used myself, but omitted from the piece: “you tell me.”

I may have very well been watching Ed Sullivan when King told that joke, but even if I were, it seems unlikely I would have gotten the joke at age 8, let alone remembered it.

Then again, that was probably what George Harrison said about “He’s so fine.”

Strangely, the piece where I used the joke contained this diss of Jackie Mason:

"[his] 'Head Mocky In Charge' schtick brings to mind [Sarah] Silvermans diss of a different elderly comic, 'a nursing home in Florida just called. The last person who thinks you're funny just died'.

The different elderly comic was Alan King. Alan King Insurance Monologue from 1966 www.youtube.com
