Things are looking very Grimm. Rabbi’s Followers Say Money Given to Grimm’s House Race Broke the Law www.nytimes.com
From The Gatemouth Archives (7/30/10): "Perhaps there are some quasi-rational motivations why someone would prepare such a list. It might not be because of the number of Grimm’s Jewish donors, but the type. Grimm has recently attracted attention for attending a service led by Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, a somewhat shadowy Kabbalahist, with a following of rich and famous millionaires who go to him for investment advice. Several of Pinto’s followers have donated to Grimm. Many in the Jewish community think Kabbalahists are weird and cultish, and portraying Grimm as hooked up with them might be seem to someone like a good hit…" McMahon Gets the Full Nelson | Room Eight www.r8ny.com
Maybe Turner should ask Michael Grimm to introduce him to Rabbi Pinto.
Alternatively, this may just mean Turner smells the handwriting on the wall, and doesn't particularly care. Turner Has Only $70K In The Bank www.politickerny.com
As I’ve noted, State Senate Republicans whine how so many of the egregious sins they committed were only in service to maintaining the number of minority seats, but most of that have been done in a neater manner, without displacing people from their home and creating testicular appendages.
However, this ignores the real issue, which is their refusal to acknowledge reality and have minority districts located in the places minorities have now moved–most specifically in Long Island. The Word Of The Day Is ‘Contorted’ www.capitaltonight.com
It's not surprising that someone assumes that Peralta and Gianaris will actually have to run in the same district (Gianaris can run anywhere in the County and there is a district resembling his old one with no incumbent). What is surprising is that reputable blogs like the Politicker actually link this sort of stuff. Marines Never Die: Could Hiram Monseratte Be Plotting His Revenge? queens-politics.com
Gotta love this title; "Erased" seems to be a constant motif of the Storobin campaign.
I've long suspected that GOP State Senate candidate David Storobin couldn't care less about New York State Government. In fact, foreign policy seems to be practically the only thing Storobin really cares about (outside of ending progressive taxation); so this quote did not catch me by surprise (except in that it was honest);
From The Brooklyn Paper:
"Storobin spokesman David Simpson wouldn’t comment on the GOP’s apparent plan to pull the district out from under the vice chairman of the Kings County Republican County Committee — upending earlier claims that it expected to spend upwards of $500,000 on Storobin’s campaign.
“THE LAST THING DAVID CARES ABOUT IS WHAT'S GOING ON IN ALBANY," Simpson said.” Erased! Kruger’s district yanked off new state senate map www.brooklynpaper.com
So, it turns out that the reason that no one could find the videos of the rallies David Storobin accuses Councilman Fidler of holding for the "Gay Community," is that no one was looking for a rally in favor of providing shelter to homeless children.
Mr. Storobin is perfectly within his rights to advocate that children should be allowed to freeze to death on our streets (after all, in the dead of winter, the dead bodies would create only minor sanitation issues), but if that is the way he feels, he should be frank enough to admit it before attacking his opponent for holding the opposite position.
