Joe Biden reminds me of my old friend Dave Marsden, a tough kid from Southie smart enough to have gone to Boston Latin.

My piece on Rudy Giuliani’s endorsement of Republican Russ Gallo's race against incumbent Assemblyman Steve Cymbrowitz (a former Giuliani administration official) was not intended to be either pro or anti Cymbrowitz (though I suppose it was functionally pro-Cymbrowitz) , but rather as an attack on Rudy's spitefulness.
Yet it generated frighteningly different responses.
A writer from the world of Jewish media said: "A good one. I remember this affair very well. Lena [the late Mrs. Cymbrowitz] was a class act.
Amazing how, no matter how much truth gets out about Rudy’s childish psychosis, people still want to love him for the man they think he is."
And yet this usually semi-rational conservative voice falsely described my piece thusly: "a chapter and verse on the history of Assemblyman Cymbrowitz and Rudy Giuliani that turned into a raking enfilade of the incumbent that all lovers of Steve Cymbrowitz would much prefer to have been left untold."
