Some of my friends on the left (but, to my pleasant surprise, far fewer than I expected) worry that this will make another attack more likely.

After all we precipitated the last one by doing what exactly?

The only second thoughts I'm having are about Charlie Wilson’s good intentions (though even there, I’m not yet convinced he was wrong)

Someone asked, why didn't you at least mention the Royal Wedding?

I responded that I am long on the record about the right (if not the wisdom) of anyone to marry whomever they please (but usually those they fail to please), including those who desire to be Queens.

Speaking of Queens, Joe Addabbo, you have one more opportunity for redemptions; Shirley Huntley may be beyond even that, but can still add a "yes, but" (via a yes vote) to her sorry record

I'm on record opposing the property tax cap, but Skelos' refusal to negotiate changes in this bill proves that he is too.

I am tempted to wish the Assembly called his bluff; sad thing is they may do just that, which would serve Skelos right.

In the same spirit, I extend this helpful hint to Michael Daly: Losing a race 61-39 does not qualify as "nearly unseating the incumbent."

The tragedy of the death of a young woman of so much promise would not be diminished by a more diligent effort at accuracy. Daly's column has some other issues in this regard, though for once I lack the stomach to do the honors.

TODAY’S GOLDEN WATCH:

In 2008, when Hiram Monserrate was arrested, it took Marty Golden THREE DAYS to introduce a resolution asking him not to file his oath of office. 53 DAYS AGO, Carl Kruger, who helped to elect Golden, was arrested.

Golden has yet to say a word.

WHAT’S THE DISTINCTION MARTY?

I noticed that ever since I’ve begun this series, the gutless wonders at “The Jig is Up Atlas” have ceased to post any more attacks on Democrats elected officials for failing to speak out about Kruger (which, given the presumption of innocence, they really shouldn’t be doing).

Given the effectiveness my puncturing of Brooklyn’s fat blonde Bay Ridge Bloviator has had in stemming this tide of deranged hypocrisy, the Golden Watch will be going on hiatus until the next outbreak of Jig stupidity in relationship to this topic.

It’s been fun though.
