The Gateway (No Parker Zone Edition)

Kevin Parker for Borough President?
If necessary, I will make peace with Rock Hackshaw if it would help stop this from happening.

In my email today:

Gatey:  Given the Parker for BP boomlet rumor, I find it hard to believe that your sarcastic wit has not already had a field day.

Feel free to steal WITHOUT ATTRIBUTION any of these handy dandy Parker campaign slogans

Kevin Parker: a Real Fighter

Kevin Parker: Man of Conviction[s]

Kevin Parker: In Your Face (Especially if you are a Woman)

Kevin Parker: He's Proven he can Beat an Indictment, Beat a Woman, Beat a Photographer, Beat Wellington Sharp. A Proven Beater.

Kevin Parker: Why waste a nice suit?

Kevin Parker: Too Insignificant to get Bribed in the Aqueduct Scandal

Gate, these things write themselves the way the Post writes Weiner headlines.  Kevin Parker for Brooklyn Borough President? | PolitickerNY www.politickerny.com

The News says the ability to hand out pork gives Chris Quinn a leg up in the Mayor's race.

I wonder if Giff Miller and Peter Vallone agree. Porky nonprofits gave mayoral hopeful Christine Quinn $127G www.nydailynews.com

It would be illegal for a lobbyist to give Marty Golden any money directly.

Instead the lobbyist must give the money to Golden’s campaign committee.

Golden's Committee then spends the money on renting Golden's brother's catering hall. The catering hall in turn spends the money on 1) paying rent to Golden, 2) making a payment to Golden for selling them the catering business, and 3) paying Golden's wife's salary at the catering hall.

Sez Golden: "There's no direct benefit to me."

Which would seem to be exactly the point of the way they structured it. Apparently perfectly legal. Is there a hole for me to get sick in? Brooklyn pol Martin Golden pours in $39,000 to brother's catering business www.nydailynews.com

Some interesting stuff here, but I'm dubious.

For instance, something's fishy about the assertion that Brooklyn Republican insurgent Jonathan Judge was knocked off the ballot for County Committee because of the weight of his petitions.

The way I heard it Judge needed five signatures and filed three. Paper Weights and Payback as New York City Board of Elections Preps for Petition Challenges www.cityhallnews.com

As I long ago predicted, Dan Squadron, who built his candidacy for the State Senate on opposing housing in Brooklyn Bridge Park, has now come out for it.

Ignore the dissembling–he had the power to veto it.

Ignore the formula for Watchtower money–in Hollywood, that is what is known as "Monkey Points."

The money for the park wasn’t there without the housing. Squadron probably knew this all along. Now he gets to explain to his angry constituents that everything he'd ever told them was a big lie. Housing Deal for Brooklyn Bridge Park Ensures Park’s Completion www.nytimes.com

Even back when he was the Satmar's greatest enemy, I don't recall Vito ever trying to ban new Synagogues, which surely would have been a roadblock to Satmar spreading further into his district.

These days, however, when it comes to another group which votes against him in a block, Vito is trying to prevent more of their houses of worship. Inside Vito Lopez’s secret meeting with the state booze commish www.brooklynpaper.com

I'm the one who first predicted that Israel would be the cutting edge issue of this race, but even I’m getting bit tired of it.

This article is linked mostly because we could always use a new Schumer is obnoxious story, and because I took such offense at Linda Sarour's repugnant implication that one cannot be pro-Israel and supportive of the civil rights of Muslims at the same time.
