The Gateway (LINCOLN: The Man, The Car, The Tunnel And The Resurrection Edition)

It’s all over Facebook, but I can’t resist the opportunity to try to be first on the blogs:

Lincoln Restler is up by 53 and is declaring victory.

Given that the previously uncounted votes had included 196 emergency ballots mostly cast by Hasidim on Heyward Street, this represents irrefutable evidence of Restler’s operational savvy, since his margin amongst absentee voters resembles those of Hasidim back in the day.

In reality, not all the Is & Ts of the Restler victory  have been dotted and crossed; if my math is right (and I’ve been drinking the shabbos wine), we are in automatic hand-recount territory, and there are surely some disputed affidavit ballots, but  barring a miracle, Restler has probably won.

Expect who is crying fraud to change rapidly.

Might I suggest that NKD use the moment to mount a write-in campaign to elect Diana Reyna (or someone else) to Lopez's Assembly seat in November?

The other day, I recommended Brooklyn reformers "pull an Aiken" and declare victory and go home.

But, they seem to be doing me one better–following Lew Fidler's advice and declaring victory and knocking on other people's doors instead of going home.

The real enemy is not Frank Seddio. The real enemies are Michael Grimm, Marty Golden, David Storobin, Russ Gallo, James Rippa and my frenemy, Joe Hayon. New Kings Democrats Comments on Changing Democratic Party in Brooklyn | The Daily Gotham dailygotham.com

City and State: Three out of the last five Brooklyn Democratic bosses have been tossed into prison and a fourth might be on his way.

Gate: I do not want to defend the sorry record of the Brooklyn Democratic Party, but of the last five leaders of the Kings County Democratic Party:

One (Clarence Norman) went to jail. One (Meade Esposito) was convicted but not jailed. One (Stanley Steingut) was indicted ten years after he left the job of being leader, but the Court of Appeals threw the indictment out before trial. One (Howard Golden) never went to jail, except to visit friends, and one was Vito Lopez. Winners and Losers, Sept. 21, 2012 www.cityandstateny.com

Exiled to Florida, where he serves as Palm Beach County's Democratic Chair, former Manhattan Assemblyman Mark Alan Siegel manages to insert a body organ (in this case, his foot) into someplace wet (in this case, his mouth).

Last time he tried that, he got into trouble and went into exile. This time, the same result seems imminent.
