Congratulations are in order for my friend and fellow political activist Errol Louis, who has pulled down a talk show on WWRL. He hosts the 6am till 9am slot on progressive talk radio. Errol is a columnist for the New York Daily News, and also a regular contributor to CNN (especially the Lou Dobbs show). He ran for the New York city council in 1997 (35th district), and came second against incumbent Mary Pinkett (deceased). In that race he beat James Davis (deceased) who went on to win the seat next time out. There are many who still believe that Errol could have been representing that area today, while on his way to Congress.
On his maiden appearance this morning, Errol had Kevin Powell on, as one of his guests. Powell is challenging Congressman Ed Towns for the 10th Congressional seat. Errol will have former governor Mario Cuomo as a guest tomorrow, and hopefully he will build this show into becoming one of the city’s top morning talk programs. Errol shares this station with other well known hosts like Ron Daniels and Rachael Madow (WNBC).
Do tune in folks. Listen to Errol; he has a lot to offer. Maybe he can link his morning program to some of the city’s top blog sites like Room Eight New York Politics and the Daily Gotham. That way more sorely needed political information can be disseminated throughout this naked city.
I usually find Errol’s political analysis to be quite astute, even though I have disagreed with him on a few issues: like banning the word “nigger”- which still makes no damn sense; and I am surprised at my fellow ivy-leaguer here. I am also still mad at Errol for his sensational claim in the Daily News (double mid-page spread) in January this year, that no one saw Barack Obama’s Iowa caucus win before the fact. I did; almost two months before it happened; and based on my inside info, research, analysis and such. I even sent Errol my column (e-mail) way back in November of last year, when I predicted the win. I also published it on my regular blogs (Gotham and Room Eight). If he searches the archives he will find it on the way to a public apology.
Stay tuned-in.
