Senate Republicans support public financing of their campaigns

The following two stories show that the NY State Senate Republicans are breaking new ground in their use of taxpayer’s money to fund their campaigns.

Times Union and The Journal News

In one case, the Republicans are apparently planning to distribute $2 million in coupons for free tolls to cops in a booklet that lists the names of Republican Senators!

Let me repeat that, it will list the names of Republican Senators, not all Senators or Assemblyman but they won’t  paying for this, we taxpayers will.

The other story concerns QUEENS Republican State Senator Serph Maltese hiring the founder of the WESTCHESTER Independence Party to a part-time two day a week job in his office. The non-practicing doctor will assist Senator Maltese who is not a member of the Senate Health Committee on medical and Italian issues (whatever Italian issue are). Both Maltese and his new staffer said that this had ABSOLUTY NOTHING to do with the Independence Party supporting the re-election campaign of Republican Senator Nick Spano. You remember Spano was re-elected 2 years ago by 18 votes.

The cost that we will paying for the 2 days of week that this minor Westchester pol working in Queens is a cool $50,000 per year!
