The Third Testament
By Michael Boyajian
I know I am going out on a limb of controversy here but I feel compelled to go forward. There is much talk among Christians of a second coming of Jesus Christ or a savior. Well, what if the savior came but it wasn’t one Christ but eight and each was crucified. For arguments sake let’s just say they were saviors or prophets rather than Jesus.
This is my idea for a book that would follow after both the Old and New Testament and it would be called the Third Testament. The book, like the New Testament, would have stories by those who knew or had a close connection to the figure in question sort of like an apostle. And I should point out that this idea does not mean to take away from the Koran which Muslims believe was the testament that followed the New Testament. The idea is meant to be more of a contemporary testament.
So who are the eight and who are the writers who will describe the teachings of the eight? Well, I would have Jesse Jackson on Martin Luther King, Jimmy Carter on Anwar Sadat, Caroline Kennedy on John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Robert F. Kennedy and Yoko Ono on John Lennon. I have three others who I have yet to think of writers for and they are Malcolm X, Mahatma Gandhi and Harvey Milk.
Each of these eight people did great work on Earth during their lifetimes with some having more of a lasting impact than others but all making up a collective whole. Technically there are a great many people on the planet who have done great things but our eight have been immortalized by their assassinations or if you will crucifixions.
Now many of the eight would object to being put on such a high pedestal as would the writers who would be telling us of their teachings. So the idea would be to just describe the work as a non-fiction book about eight people who did great things before being taken from us. So it would not be called a religious book other than by its title, The Third Testament. Again just some stories about some great people who gave their lives for humanity plain and simple.
I might also take it a step further and go beyond these eight people. Maybe it is within all of us this ability to do good for humanity. So we must now lead ourselves to the mountaintop. That may be the ultimate meaning of this testament. Christ led us out of the brutality of the Roman Empire, and my original eight led us out of the brutalities of modern times and now it is up to each of us to take the planet to the next step or avenue if you will. So peace now comes from within.
