The Afghan War, The Afghan Tragedy

The Afghan War, the Afghan Tragedy

Let’s not even discuss how the Bush Administration let the Afghan War fester while they romped around Iraq or how Afghanistan is the graveyard of empires.  Let’s not even speculate that General Petraeus will somehow pull off a heroic military miracle there.  Let us talk about the current reality.

This war is bleeding American and Muslim alike of its young; it is sucking up our national treasure.  It is also enveloping us in a war not against the Taliban and Al Qaeda but the entire Muslim world.  This war has become a cause for Muslims around the world to come and fight the infidels.

Yes, we have chosen this place to fight our enemies but they too have agreed to fight here.  And the more we fight the more we recruit Muslims to come and fight us.  There are 1.2 billion Muslims in the world, there are 300 million Americans.  You do the math.  We are at a force inferiority in this war and it seems we cannot achieve victory only a stalemate at best and that according to our own military who state that “no one is winning the war.”

Now we are told there is a trillion dollars worth of minerals buried in Afghanistan.  So now we are not fighting our enemies from 9-11 but for corporate access to this wealth.

I mentioned 9-11 and that was the original reason for the war.  And we accomplished our goal with that but let this country fester for a decade allowing our enemies to regroup and come back even stronger and now we are not fighting to avenge 9-11 but some other reason in this god forsaken land.

Mr. President, please, end this war and its stranglehold on this nation, end the madness.
