Wayne Barrett has some keen insights about the media's love affair with Harry Wilson; the article only misses one detail–the cluster endorsement of Wilson was foreshadowed by foreplay in the form of a love letter to Wilson written by Barrett himself. A pretty convincing one, I might add. Harry Wilson Gets Backing By Our Media Overlords blogs.villagevoice.com

As someone whose been outspoken about opposing those who demean our freedoms by opposing Islamic religious and social facilities, I hope I’ve earned some credibility on the matter of bigotry against Muslims.

I defended the firings of Dr. Laura Schlessinger and Helen Thomas as examples of cold hard capitalism. I did not bother to comment upon Rick Sanchez, because his comments weren’t really political speech, but went straight to the question of whether his apparent intellect was sufficient to allow him to function in his job. In each case, they were no longer assets and they worked for institutions whose mission was to make money.

Since NPR is not in business to make money, they must meet a higher threshold.

Williams statement of fear when he saw people wearing Islamic garb of airplanes is just stupid (who would even try to bomb a plane wearing traditional Islamic garb?–I'd dress like a tourist). But no one really believes Williams is stupid. I‘m exactly sure what the issue was with Williams’ words about the Time Square car bomber. But, but in the context of Williams’ other words— strongly criticizing those who lump all Muslim together as if they were all terrorists–they, at worst, seem like something better handled with an statement of contrition (at most).

Instead, NPR has created another conservative martyr (even though he’s no conservative) for free speech, and this time, maybe even someone worthy of the description Juan Williams And Political Correctness | The New Republic www.tnr.com

A perfect example of conservative purist stupidity

Repubs oppose cap and trade, a policy based upon the conservative principle of putting the costs upon those who create the problems

DANNY SQUADRON's REPUBLICAN OPPONENT (on why Cindy Sheehan is right that Pelosi should debate her Republican opponent): This is um..'debatable'. She's expressing a view that Pelosi engage her opponent – what's wrong with that? she was the rage when she was protesting GWB in Crawford. Now we've got 40k troops in Iraq, 200k in Afghanistan and hardly a peep even weekly across our local TV news? LBJ was a Dem, too…why couldn't he wave his hand for broadcast adherence, then?

GATEMOUTH: Well, how bout she's got a Majority to defend, and the overwhelming majority of her constituents care more about keeping that Majority than they do about seeing Pelosi debate some loser they agree with on virutally nothing, and it is a time waster for Pelosi  to worry about the size of her personal margin of victory.

Did tan-boy Boehner debate his Democratic opponent? If the answer is yes, get back to me.

Outside of my own, most reporting on McMillan has been lame. The exception being the pieces on his rent. Great story.

Of all the lame McMillian stories, this is the lamest of the bunch. Of course, he's not a member of his “party.” It's not a recognized party, with a spot on the voter registration forms, til it earns 50,000 votes in a Gubernatorial election.

In fact, anyone who did five minutes googling would know that, other than being a Jew hater and a lunatic, the most notable thing about McMillan is that he takes money from people to qualify them for the ballot AS DEMOCRATS and then hands in a bunch of blank sheets wrapped in a few pages of forgeries. To do this, he stays enrolled as a DEMOCRAT.

If and when McMillan earns his own ballot line, he will join his own party. Big deal. Jimmy McMillan Is Not A Registered Member of The Rent Is Too Damn High Party | The New York Observer www.observer.com
