Neuter Gingrich Department:

Gingrich says he dumped two wives because of "Love of COUNTRY."

Country, huh? Methinks his answer is one syllable too long. The Last Refuge krugman.blogs.nytimes.com

Kinsley makes the obvious (but too little noted) point that Romney is a complete and utter phony without a principled bone in his body.

But the point which Kinsley misses is that this is the very quality which makes Mitt so much more appealing than most of the GOP field; Romney keeps alive the slim hope that he does not really believe the awful stuff he says. Sometimes I wish I always just posted my thoughts immediately, rather than sometimes saving them for longer pieces.

The other day after posting an article on the 54th Colin from “Brooklyn Politics said to me:

‘What do you make of this? It seems to be a fairly strong affirmation that Ed Towns doesn't have too many cards left”

I replied:

“He has cards left on the leadership, which is controlled by the Exec committee.

One suspects all the black leaders would back him, especially if the Assembly nod is to go to a Latino–for sure, he also has some white support–Fidler, Seminaria, Simon, Restler, Chris Owens (yes, I know), maybe Roberta Sherman–, maybe others

Vito could be put in a situation where he might be dependent on the unholy 11 appointed exec committee members to win–this would be trumpeted as the ultimate sign of weakness, which it would be–under the circumstance, he might agree to give the leadership to ET in exchange for the Assembly seat being unopposed”

This article confirms this is indeed the Towns strategy. Towns Talks Vito, Says District Leader Race 'A Difficult Task' | The New York Observer www.observer.com

Grisanti tries to explain his use of the "cat and dog" metaphor when comparing same sex marriage to the kind where sex isn't the same (as if).

Sure, everyone is the porn business is a sleaze; so is everyone in the music business, but that doesn't man I'm gonna stop listening.

There's a very hot local political story I've not mentioned, because I'm pretty much precluded from doing so; so I'll leave you with the words of Francis Urquhart: "You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment."
