Governor Andrew Cuomo should grab federal super train money that short sighted Republican governors have rejected so as to build a bullet train line from New York to Albany to Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo.
The rejected funding could overcome hurdles that the New York to Albany run is too curvy for a super train. Perhaps running it along the Thruway would help.
This is a sure way to revive upstate economies as new businesses and tourists are drawn in by the super train. Imagine a visitor to New York making a day trip to Niagara Falls or a Buffalonian doing a day of shopping in New York thanks to the super train.
A super train would do to the state what the Erie Canal did in the 1800s and the Thruway did in the 20th Century. In other words make it the Empire State once again.
