Let’s face it, even mainstream Republicans will admit, Newt Gingrich is a moral misfit. You know the drill, he told his first wife he was divorcing her on her cancer bed, then he told his second wife that he was having an affair with a young staffer and wanted an open marriage all while trying to impeach President Clinton for having an affair and telling gays that they had no right to take the sacred vows of marriage.
He is a lifelong Washington insider who calls other the elite. He makes a fortune off government agencies but calls himself a proponent of small government. He maintains a half million dollar account at Tiffany’s but calls others one percenters.
But the moral majority fundamentalist Christians voted overwhelmingly for him in South Carolina. You remember the line from Star Wars, who is the bigger fool, the fool or those that follow the fool. Who is the bigger moral misfit the moral misfit or those that follow him?
The point makes for a striking contrast when comparing him to President Obama who is a an honest hardworking family man of modest means who would rather raise his kids than attend beltway cocktail parties and who is lovingly devoted to his wife.
Yet the moral misfits hate the president one of our most moral of presidents invoking racial slurs against him while preying to white trash fears of successful blacks. So who do you want as your president, an honest family man of strong character or a huckster carnival cheat.
