Americans should boycott major attractions in Florida like Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World so that these corporations will bring pressure on politicians in that state in order to bring about change to what is now institutional violence against blacks which has now come to a head with the killing of teenager Trayvon Martin and the lack of attention paid by local police to this crime.
Why these Florida attractions? Just because these brands are household names generating millions of dollars in revenues to Florida governments. Cut off these revenues and you will kick start an action plan by these complacent municipalities. Nothing works so effectively as the carrot and stick of money and only money will bring about justice in this state that has forsaken blacks by creating laws that have a disparate impact on minorities like this shoot first ask questions later gun law and because of the lack of attention paid to the killing of blacks by pseudo law enforcement in that state.
Is it such a sacrifice for a family to change its summer travel plans going to say California instead of Florida so that the millions of teens in Florida can stop living in fear of being cut down by bigots with little or no recrimination. How can people have fun in a state where a large part of the population is living under repressive conditions? Can you laugh and smile at the antics of a Disney character when young blacks outside these parks are being shot by white cowboys under protection of the law.
A boycott may seem like a weak remedy but when law enforcement is doing little or nothing to protect the lives of minorities it is the best action available under the law. America hasn’t the time to wait for a lengthy Federal investigation with no guarantee of justice when a boycott will bring about swift results.
