It is no secret that conservatives want to turn America over to the corporations making it a corporate state. They have been enabled in their plot by the conservatives on the Supreme Court who handed down the infamous Citizens United case giving corporations financial control over America’s political process.
Now corporate states are nothing new. Venice and Florence were once corporate states but now they are small, quiet tourist cities part of Italy. Then there was New Netherlands a corporate state chartered by the Netherlands. It was a wealthy place with a large, diverse and tolerant population interested in peace and prosperity.
But then along came the British who seized control of this corporate state with little resistance from the Dutch. You see the Dutch did not care about the loss of New Netherlands because it was a corporate state not really part of the Netherlands proper in Europe. So rather than wage war they cut their losses and the British took command renaming New Netherlands, New York.
The state under normal conventional government, and not corporate control, really thrived and after the Revolution became the Empire State because of its economic power. It went to the British and then became American but was no longer Dutch and no longer a corporate state.
You see no one cares what happens to a corporation. So if you corporatize America no one will care what happens to the country because it is no longer the home of the brave or the fruited plain but just a corporate entity.
So if a rising power should come along and land on our shores they will meet no resistance because no one is going to risk their lives for a corporation. This is what happened to the New Netherlands and this is what will happen to us if conservatives have their way and we become a corporate state.
Americans will charge into battle without blinking an eye to defend their country, their flag, mom and apple pie but wouldn’t give a damn about a corporate state. So corporatization my friends may result in a new and foreign flag flying over our land and New York may become New Mao City or the city of Sarkozy but it will no longer be America the beautiful thanks to this dangerous corporatization scheme of conservatives.
