The Gateway (Piece of My Heart Edition)

Jerry Ragovoy’s' greatest productions, for the likes of such cult favorite non-household names as Garnett Mimms, Erma Franklin, Lorraine Ellison and Howard Tate, convey the irony of a songwriter whose work is best remembered for covers by more famous artists who were members of the cults.

The Stones‘ "Time is on My Side" wasn't merely a cover; it was a cover of a cover, while Janis never lived long enough to record a song he‘d actually written for her. Jerry Ragovoy, Songwriter and Producer, Is Dead at 80 www.nytimes.com

It’s a Gatemouth World, Part One: “The Jig Gets Its Petard Hoisted.”

Called out by “The Jig is Up Atlas” for accepting a $200 check from Carl Kruger (who probably consumed at least that much food at the fundraiser), Bill Colton sends the money to charity.

Then, stealing a page from Gatemouth Colton calls on “Jig” hero Marty Golden to do the same with the $3,000 he got from Richard Lipsky’s wife, prompting a non-response response from the Jig (The question begs. As always the truth is ignored). The Brooklyn Politics Blog www.thebrooklynpolitics.com

It’s a Gatemouth World Part Two: “Lincoln Restler Eats Crow”

Lincoln Restler: This is how Democrats ended up with Assemblyman David Weprin, widely praised for his “loyalty” to the Queens machine, rather than any variety of qualities we might hope for in our newest Member of Congress.

GATE: I don't disagree that the process sucks–no mention of runoff in the proposal Restler supports, so I'll have to withhold judgment as to whether it'd be a gift to the GOP.

But Jesus H. Gonzalez, man, could you not even spare one sentence to mention that Weprin's a decent liberal who is highly preferable to the Republican?

Lincoln Restler: I‘ve stated publicly my support of his candidacy. I want every vote we can muster to get Nancy her gavel back

GATE: Nice if you had mentioned it–even in an aside; people in places like Sheepshead Bay read that Paper and might get a different impression, given that your prose in the article strongly implies a total lack of support.

Phillip A. Saperia: I agree with Gatemouth. David Weprin is a tested liberal with a credentialed record.

Lincoln Restler: Thanks, Phillip. I also support him in this election.

Silver says Koch is out of line on Weprin.

I'm glad Silver is saying this, but is it churlish of me to ask why he did not mention his conference member, Dov Hikind? Shelly Silver calls Ed Koch 'out of line' for urging Jews to put GOP in Anthony Weiner seat www.nydailynews.com

Turnabout is fair play. This time, it’s the WFP calling for an investigation of Murdoch.

Rudy is now executing Newt Romney/John McCain level black-flips.

On the positive side, at least he's flipping the right way.

But, I still don't want him anywhere near the nuclear button. TRENDING: Giuliani to GOP: Stay out of gay marriage politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com
