The following appeared in Wednesday’s politico.com, concerning the start of Gay marriage in California:

***LEADING REPUBLICANS THINK THIS HELPS McCAIN BY GIVING CONSERVATIVES SOMETHING TO MOTIVATE THEM. A smart Republican: “It always helps to remind voters that regardless of their feelings for President Bush, the last eight years have seen the judicial benches filled with conservatives and this type of behavior is directly linked to activist judges and Democrats.
Now that Republican may be smart but he doesn’t know his facts very well. Here are the 4 Judges who voted for Gay marriage –
- Ronald M. George, (since 1991), appointed by Pete Wilson; elevated to Chief Justice in 1996.
- Joyce L. Kennard, (since 1989), Associate Justice; appointed by George Deukmejian
- Carlos R. Moreno, (since 2001), Associate Justice; appointed by Gray Davis
- Kathryn Mickle Werdegar, (since 1994), Associate Justice; appointed by Pete Wilson.
3 of the judges were appointed by Republican governors and 1 by a Democrat.
But I do have to admit that Chief Judge George, who wrote the decision, was originally appointed to the bench by a former Democrat. But that Governor switched parties a few years ago. His name was Ronald Reagan!
