Of Kings and Queens

Of Kings and Queens

By Michael Boyajian

I just read a colorful book on the kings and queens of England.  It occurred to me that I would very much like to meet a royal.  Looking at their portraits in the book makes you wonder if perhaps they did not possess some sort of divine authority.

It is not that I dislike America it is just at times I would like to get the hell out of here away from the teabaggers, red necks, fundamentalists and Wall Street rip offs who will question your patriotism but  think nothing of paving over a revolutionary war cemetery while making a profit.

This Times Square terrorist, why didn’t he feel this way.  You’re unhappy then move.  I mean why blow everybody up if you can just move.  That is how we all ended up here in the first place.  We all moved from somewhere else.

But then I wonder how I would survive without my Sirius Radio, my beloved game of baseball and the Sunday New York Times.  Why should I be drawn away from these joys by common barbarians?  Maybe they should be the ones to move.

I mean how did the NASCAR crowd come to power?  Why did the SEC prosecute Martha Stewart over nickels and dimes while turning a blind eye away from Bernie Madoff as he looted a billion or so dollars from the public?  And who empowered these fundamentalists with their angry god, rampant homophobia and their belief that they are above the law in so many ways?

I think we know the answer to all of this.  Why then should we leave?  We have more in common with the founding fathers and their renaissance ways then all of this rabble.  No I think I will stay and just dream of meeting a royal one day.
