Border Crossings
By Michael Boyajian
All this anti immigrant sentiment spawned by Arizona’s draconian immigration law has nothing to do with illegal aliens but is just fodder for opportunist politicians who want to appeal to the growing base of ignorant American bigots, while providing cover for corporate political donors.
You can instantly end the flow of illegal aliens like flipping a light switch by putting pressure on the corporations that are hiring them. Corporations are drawing people across the border with the promise of jobs. These jobs are the kind no American will take because they provide corporations with a low cost labor pool that allows them to stay competitive with China. Unfortunately, those coming for the work are taking the fall for these almighty corporations. You know these corporations; they are the ones who caused the BP oil spill and ruined our economy giving rise to the worst recession since the Great Depression.
State and federal authorities should not be chasing immigrants but the corporations that hire them. Cut off the supply of work and you will end the flow across the border immediately.
But that is too easy. This country used to have a common sense can do ability. Now voters are so conditioned by ideological corporate propaganda that they would rather nuzzle corporations that we give tax breaks to and who in return send our jobs overseas or hire low cost illegal aliens while looking the other way as government officials run around locking up these immigrant workers who were enticed here.
I say lock up the CEOs of the Fortune 500 and over night you will end the immigration problem taking the strain off our healthcare system while providing Americans with jobs that pay well. If this isn’t done then two things can happen, we will either be living in prison state with most Americans out of work or we will be saying the pledge of allegiance in Spanish.
