Save Our Veterans

By Michael Boyajian

60 Minutes reported tonight that thousands upon thousands of veterans from our most recent wars are homeless.  This is a vast sea of humanity, a sea of heroes who put their lives on the line defending their country a country where they now find themselves without a roof over their heads.

Corporate Democracy

The battle against corporate tyranny must go beyond shareholder rights to providing voting rights to employees.  Corporations are creatures of the laws of the states and federal government and have been given certain rights that go beyond those afforded to individuals and in some cases the very governments that created them.

Steel Like Roman Fortitude

I once did extensive reading on Ancient Rome and visited the ruins that were the very nerve center of that Empire and there is one thing I learned about its emperors, generals and senators.  They all had steel like Roman fortitude and risked their very lives for glory and victory and advancement of empire.

Gay Apartheid and the Paladino Conundrum

By Michael Boyajian

A reader recently challenged my assertion that Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino was advocating a form of Apartheid for the gay community.  You see that is just the thing with Paladino and his supporters.  They say one thing, then back track, then forward track and in the end mean just what they originally stated.  In this case they made homophobic remarks and then denied they were homophobes in a form of circular logic and that is the Paladino conundrum.  It is the riddle of what he truly stands for other than profits through government rents and tax breaks.

Raise High the Roof Beam

Conservative economic policies are nothing more than a sham.  During the 1950s and 60s government spending was robust as we fought the Korean and Vietnam Wars, landed a man on the moon and engaged in a cold war with the Soviet Union.  Yet we experienced prosperity unmatched in the annals of human history.

The trials and tribulations of Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino continue now with his hateful homophobic remarks against the gay community that end with a statement by him which in effect he says do not dare call me a homophobe for that would be untrue.  Yeah sure, so long as gays are kept down much in the same way blacks were in South Africa during Apartheid.

Facing Change Documenting America

It is an old biblical saying that says blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.  Well a modern play on this might be that blessed are the photographers for they may save the planet.  Ten superstar photographers, representing the likes of the New York Times, national magazines and Pulitzer Prize ranks, have joined together to form an organization that picks up where FDR’s Farm Security Administration or FSA left off documenting America with their cameras as a nonprofit group called Facing Change as a means to improving the lives of the country’s forgotten populations.

Paladino and Justification of Party

By Michael Boyajian

One of the original rationales for political parties was that they would serve to screen out undesirable candidates putting forward the best and brightest of their ranks for the coming election.  This axiom no longer seems to apply to the Republican Party and nowhere is it more apparent than in New York where Republican Gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino has seemingly threatened the life of Albany super reporter, Fred Dicker of the New York Post.  Though some would argue that Paladino’s threat, “I am going to take you out,” was not a death threat it must be recalled that John Gotti went to prison for saying nothing less than that.
