I had written previously that the establishment of regional unions around the world based on the European Union model would eventually lead to peace when each regional union was joined with another through a bridge.  For instance Turkey could bridge the EU with the Middle East and Russia Asia with Europe.

When I first met Republican Jim Maisano it was before he had joined the Westchester County legislature.  We got to talking about Ronald Reagan and that inevitably led to talk of the Iran Contra Affair.  I pointed out the political symbolism of Oliver North standing before an investigative Congressional Committee in his Marine uniform with hand raised swearing to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

It may seem highly unlikely that a challenger will breach the unified front offered by Democrats in support of Andrew Cuomo for governor of New York, but, as Democratic leader Elisa Summer has said, organizing Democrats is sort of like herding cats.  And it has not deterred two Hudson Valley Democrats from making a run for the Executive Mansion.
