"If I were a guy, would I have had the pounding that I did?" she said in an interview with Fortune Magazine. "And the worst pictures!"
The “pounding” she is referring to, has been from a circular firing squad of one. It was self inflicted. She’s the one who constantly suffered from foot in the mouth disease like making comments about birth control, and Black is the one who wore out her welcome before it even started.
Granted, she never had the support of parents, but Black has to look in the mirror for why. The mayor, who finds himself suffering from third term blues, had to cut his loses, and cut them fast.
Smart decision on his part to go with Deputy Mayor Dennis Walcott. Walcott is universally liked and has a solid education background. It was Walcott’s job to hold Black’s hand, but now he is the top guy. Walcott lives in a middle class Queens community, and has strong roots in the public school system.
One newspaper has already started beating the drum of Walcott could possibly be mayor of NYC with Bloomberg’s backing, and guess what? Knowing Mr. Walcott, such speculation is the last thing he would want to hear, (he really is a low key guy) but doing a good job, and with the blessings of the Mayor, Walcott could be exactly that, a strong contender.
However, it's one thing to be the person behind the newsmaker, It's another to be the top dog. Into the frying pan you go Mr. Walcott.
Walcott is only New York's third African American Chancellor. First there was Richard Green who died as chancellor with asthma, then Rudy Crew, (that turned out to end a disaster with Crew and Mayor Giuliani feuding) and now Walcott.
Certainly we want you to succeed Mr. Walcott because if you do, it benefits our children.
