A safety release for many liberals was the thought of fleeing America for Europe a place of culture, mass transit, health care, social programs and wealth.
Well that dream has been destroyed by European Conservatives, so called Euro Cons, who are choking Europe with their autocratic ideologically driven economic dogma of harsh austerity. 2,500 years ago conservatives killed Socrates the greatest thinker of his time and 1,500 years ago they assassinated Caesar which began the long decline and fall of the Roman Empire. Now modern Europe has fallen to them.
That leaves America where a pitched battle between conservatives and liberals is ongoing. Conservatives have controlled the field since the 1980s squandering Americas post World War II liberal created wealth and putting its remaining treasure in the hands of the few, the plutocracy.
We can mark the date of the end of the Roman Empire and we can mark the transition of America from democracy to plutocracy. It was the day the Supreme Court handed down its Citizens United decision unleashing the raw power of the wealthy few over the American majority, those of moderate means.
In other times liberals could flee the conservative plague as they did in the 1920s going to Paris. But Europe is in ruins and there is nowhere else to flee to. Liberals have no choice but to stand and fight pushing conservatives back into the sea from whence they came drowning them on the beaches while raising high the roof beam of liberal democracy once again.
