The good news for President Obama, or any sitting president, the power of incumbency is very tough to win against, and Republicans are having a tough time with their field of candidates.
However the bad news: the worst kept secret is Obama’s base is not energized (he will need each and every single vote) and consider the horrible jobs report Friday which shows history is not on Mr. Obama’s side.
The report revealed a dismal mere 18,000 net new jobs in June, pushing the unemployment rate to 9.2 percent. AND consider this, NO PRESIDENT HAS WON RE-ELECTION since Franklin Roosevelt with unemployment above 7.2 percent. Obama is in for the fight of his life.
His Supporters have been saying for years he inherited the titanic. That may be true, but it’s on his watch now.
Come election day, capturing Bin Laden may not matter, or anything else. It will come down to the economy. The issue is gift wrapped for Republicans.
Mitt Romney, who is leading national polls for the GOP nomination sounded off: "With their cavalier attitude about the economy, the White House has turned the audacity of hope into the audacity of indifference," Romney said, playing off the title off one of the president's books.
Newt Gingrich labeled the economic situation the “Obama depression.”
“At 9.2 percent now for month after month after month, this is the Obama depression,” Gingrich said on Fox and Friends Sunday morning. “Housing prices have dropped deeper than in the great depression and it’s very clear that under Obama’s job killing policies, we’re not going to get out of this deep unemployment.”
Fresh blood in terms of a running mate, (like NY Governor Andrew Cuomo) may be the only thing to save the democrats.
The warning bells are going off for Team Obama.
