Is Obama in trouble

|

The good news for President Obama, or any sitting president, the power of incumbency is very tough to win against, and Republicans are having a tough time with their field of candidates.

However the bad news: the worst kept secret is Obama’s base is not energized (he will need each and every single vote) and consider the horrible jobs report Friday which shows history is not on Mr. Obama’s side.

Weiner is on life support. Pelosi says it’s time to go. He enters rehab

No Smoking in NYC Parks

|

Let’s start with full disclosure here.

I admit I was never a smoker, but it’s hats off to Mayor Bloomberg and the City Council for the new law banning smoking in 43 square miles of parks, public plazas, beaches, and boardwalks in the city.

That means no smoking in Central Park, the pedestrian plaza even in Times Square, or again, at the beaches.

6,100 Teachers. Looks like Bloomberg wasn’t bluffing, but will the Council stand up to him?

|

Historically, layoffs are often threatened as a budgetary bargaining chip.

In other words, the mayor basically yells what amounts to “fire” in a crowded theater, and more often than not, the money surfaces from the State or Washington, and the bad news is avoided. (layoffs in this case)

However this time, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is not bluffing, and for the first time since the 1970’s, public school teachers are looking at pick slips. A loss of 6,166 teachers, including an anticipated 4,100 layoffs.

The mayor is going through major third term blues. Can you say Cathie Black. Now Black is only making matters worse as she didn’t just go away quietly. On the way out as School Chancellor, Black, after just 96 days on the job, raised the sexism card.
