The Armenian Spring: A Proclamation

With the rise across the Arab world this spring comes a new era of good feelings where perhaps old discords now give way to new hope that allows even Armenians to rise up and call upon President Obama to acknowledge the Armenian Genocide where 1.5 million Armenians were killed by Turks in what would become Hitler’s blueprint for the Holocaust later in the 20th Century.

The Mouse That Roared

The two stealth right wing ghouls Wragge and Hill on the CBS Early Show took time out from their inane babble to praise United States Attorney General Holder for exposing overspending by government workers attending a conference.  The workers were overcharged for muffins adding up to $4,000.  $4,000 really?

Normalizing

Scholar Mary Beard talks about how historians try to normalize the ancient Romans.  We try to make them more like ourselves when in fact they were anything but like us.  We watch football on Sundays the Romans slaughtered 60,000 animals for spectators during the first month that the Coliseum was open.

The Betrayal

The New York Times reports that Democrats led by a gutless president are bending to the will of extremist Republicans and caving to demands for cuts to Social Security and Medicare.  This is a betrayal of the base of the Democratic Party – Middle America and our vulnerable senior citizens.

The Job Act

Let’s not even talk about how the president’s job speech is three years too late.  Let’s not stand in awe of his soaring oratory.  Let’s not frown upon the grim faces of Refusenik Republicans.  And let’s just dismiss the staged applause of Democrats.

Giuliani Time

Tea Party extremism threatens the nation and rides rough shod over the president.  America is a liberal country at heart where most people identify with the Democratic Party.  America is looking for an alternative to the president but is turned off by the Republican presidential candidates who can only be described as an assorted group of cranks and misfits.

Internships A Form Of Slavery?

Many students today strive to enter internships while in college.  The programs can be demanding with little or nothing in the way of pay.  While I was in law school I did internships with a New York State Supreme Court justice, the Richmond County District Attorney and the New York Stock Exchange and enjoyed every minute of it.
